informations 033 AVRIL 2008 APRIL FONDATION LE CORBUSIER Créée à l'initiative de Le Corbusier, la Fondation Le Corbusier, reconnue d'utilité publique par décret du 24 juillet 1968, gère et conserve un patrimoine important d'œuvres d'art, d'archives, d'études d'architecture et de biens immobiliers légués par l'architecte. Son action vise à mettre en valeur et à mieux faire connaître la pensée et l'œuvre de Le Corbusier. Dans la Maison La Roche seront exposées des œuvres des collections de la Fondation parmi lesquelles des acquisitions réalisées depuis sa créa- tion : peintures, sculptures, tapisse- ries, plans, etc. Des documents d’archives témoigneront de l’engage- ment de Le Corbusier dans la prépa- ration et la mise en œuvre du projet de Fondation pour lequel il dépensera une très grande énergie pendant les vingt dernières années de sa vie et auquel il associa ses plus proches amis. Ce sera également l‘occasion de pré- senter deux programmes qui vont mobiliser la Fondation au cours des prochains mois : les travaux de res- tauration de la Maison La Roche qui débuteront au mois de juin 2008 ; le dossier de candidature de l’œuvre architecturale au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. This year the Foundation is celebrating the fortieth anniversary of its official setting up (décret de reconnaissance d’utilité publique of 24 July, published in the Journal Officiel 31 July 1968). In Maison La Roche will be a selection of works belonging to the Foundation’s collections and including items acquired since its setting up: paintings, sculptures, tapestries, plans, etc. Included will be archived documents showing Le Corbusier’s involvement in preparing and implement- ing the project, which took up large amounts of his energy in the last twenty years of his life and with which his closest friends were involved. Two projects in which the Foundation will be actively involved in the coming months will likewise be presented in this exhibition – restoration work on Maison La Roche, due to begin in June 2008, and the appli- cation file for inscription of Le Corbusier’s architectural work on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Plusieurs expositions seront présentées à cette occasion. Elles évoqueront la construction du bâti- ment et les souvenirs des premiers habitants dans le Berlin de la recons- truction d’après guerre. Objets per- sonnels, photographies, textes enre- gistrés illustreront ces témoignages. Des reproductions des articles publiés à l’époque de la construction rappelleront les polémiques suscitées par l’œuvre de Le Corbusier. “Objets 58” : un appartement d’origine sera reconstitué et des meubles utili- sés dans les premières années de l’Unité seront également exposés. Seront également présentés des meubles imaginés par de jeunes créa- teurs pour l’habitat de demain. Une exposition de photographies de l’Unité d’habitation réalisées par Bärbel Högner, artiste qui a bénéficié d’une résidence dans l’Unité sera pré- sentée simultanément au musée Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf sous le titre : “Typ Berlin” - Das Corbusierhaus in Charlottenburg Fotografien von Bärbel Högner. Next September, the inhabitants of the Berlin Unité d’Habitation will be celebra- ting its fiftieth anniversary. Several exhibi- tions to be held on this occasion will show the stages of its construction, together with souvenirs of its earliest occupants from the post war reconstruction of Berlin, personal belongings, photographs and recorded texts. Reproductions of articles published at the time of building will recall the controversy stirred up by Le Corbusier’s work. “Objets 58” will feature a reconstruction of one the original dwellings and furniture used in the early years of the building. Also on display will be furniture for tomor- row’s habitat, created by young designers. An exhibition of photographs of the Unité d’Habitation by Bärbel Högner, an artist who took up a residency in the Unité, will be held at the same time at the Charlot- tenburg-Wilmersdorf Museum with the title: “Typ Berlin” - Das Corbusierhaus in Charlottenburg. Les thèmes de ces manifes- tations seront centrés sur les témoi- gnages d’anciens résidents qui ont été hébergés dans le Pavillon suisse avant 1965 et sur les rapports qu’entretiennent les œuvres de Le Corbusier avec l’art contemporain. Topics will include personal accounts by former residents and the relationship between Le Corbusier’s works and contemporary art. 4 / FONDATION LE CORBUSIER informations AVRIL 2008 À l’occasion du centième anniversai- re de sa naissance (22 mai 1907) les auteurs de ce documentaire rendent hommage à Eugène Claudius-Petit, compagnon ébéniste, professeur de dessin, compagnon de la Libération, ministre de la Reconstruction et de l’Urbanisme, député et maire de Firminy pendant dix-huit ans. Celui-ci dès son élection mit en œuvre locale- ment sa politique d’aménagement du territoire et engagea la renaissance de la ville en créant Firminy-Vert. Il s’entoura des meilleures compé- tences, André Sive, Marcel Roux, Charles Delfante, Auguste Mathoulin, Robert Auzelle, Jean Kling, Pierre Belvès, Henri Malvaux et fit appel à Le Corbusier pour y réaliser une Unité d’habitation et le Centre civique. Des documents d’archives inédits, photographies et films, illustrent la construction de Firminy-Vert. Des his- toriens, Rémi Baudouï, Xavier Pou- vreau, Gilles Ragot, des acteurs, Charles Delfante, François Grange- Chavanis, et des témoins, élus, habitants, racontent l’histoire de ce chantier unique et de sa réception aujourd’hui. Usine Claude et Duval The Claude et Duval factory in Saint-Dié is due to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of its rebuilding and the one hundredth anniversary of its opening. To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of his birth (22nd May, 1907) this docu- mentary film pays tribute to Eugène Claudius-Petit, who was mayor of Firminy for 18 years. As soon as he was elected, he organized the reconstruction of the city, in line with his policies on urbanism, and realized Firminy-Vert. He involved the best experts and architects in his project, André Sive, Marcel Roux, Charles Delfante, Auguste Mathoulin, Robert Auzelle, Jean Kling, Pierre Belvès, Henri Malvaux and finally persuaded Le Corbusier to build a Unité d’Habitation and the Centre Civique. Unpublished archives and documents illustrate the success story of the building of Firminy-Vert. Historians, Rémi Baudouï, Xavier Pouvreau, Gilles Ragot, participants, Charles Delfante, François Grange-Chavanis, witnesses and inhabitants, all tell the story of this unique project.
