Amway India provides free & unlimited training to all its distributors to help them to grow their business. CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY: CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) a registered non-profit organisation which looks after Amway India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Amway distributors are also volunteers of AOF and they participate in AOF activities. Vision: Enable the less privileged child to lead a better life. Mission: To be the front-runner in providing opportunities for child education and health to attain economic independence, with special focus on the blind child. Under its National Project for the Visually Challenged, AOF has: • Ensured that around 85,000 visually challenged school-going children have had access to Braille textbooks. This project has covered the following states: Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. This work had been carried out in partnership with the Delhi-based All India Confederation of the Blind (AICB) and the Mumbai-based National Association for the Blind (India). • Set up computer/vocational centres at Narendrapur (near Kolkata), Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati, Jaipur, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune and Chandigarh. This is an on-going project with most of these centres coming up after 2008. • Set up the AOF-AICB Centre for Excellence at Delhi in 2008, where the visually challenged get a 12-month vocational training module, familiarizing them with computers etc. • Annually celebrates Louis Braille Day, Helen Keller Day & International White Cane Day along with children of its partner NGOs. • Annually organizes All India Chess Tournament as well as All India Dance Competition for visually challenged to help showcase their talent and abilities. • Presented a 20-volume Braille set of the Webster’s Dictionary in English, to the Delhi Blind School and donated a Braillon machine to the Indian Blind School at Madurai. • Supported Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital in conducting communications workshops for the blind, and a Car rally for blind children at Surat. • Distributed 1000 Braille kits for blind children in Kerala, and enabled the state-level chess tournament for the blind, in Tamil Nadu. • Organised cataract operation camp at Surat, and free eye camps at Erode, Balasore, Delhi and Siliguri - over 35,000 persons had free eye check ups and around 1,200 free operations were carried out. • Set up an audio library for visually challenged at Sewa Mandir, an NGO working for visually challenged in Indore. Here, interested volunteers record textbooks for visually challenged students. For this work towards the visually challenged, AOF has received a citation from the World Blind Union (WBU), in December 2003. AOF is the only Indian NGO to be so recognized by WBU. Under its National Project for Children, AOF has: • Launched Project Sunrise where AOF partners with one orphanage at 64 locations across India – this is a global initiative called the One By One Campaign for children, instituted to commemorate the 50th year of Amway Corporation, US. Under this project, AOF will enter into partnerships with NGOs to support on-going education, healthcare (with focus on access to safe drinking water) and nutrition. • Donated a sum of 30 lacs to Child Relief uploads/Industriel/ amway-stater-guide 1 .pdf
