UPDATE 18 MARCH 2020: JIB 11 AND JIBLAND 5 HAVE BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID

UPDATE 18 MARCH 2020: JIB 11 AND JIBLAND 5 HAVE BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. I WILL DO MY BEST TO UPDATE THIS DOC WHEN NEW INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE! For now, we know: ●All hotel reservations at the Hilton will be automatically changed to the new dates. You will still be able to cancel the reservation without fee if you cannot make the new dates. ●There will be another handover time period ●JIB12 remains unaffected ●JIB staff are working hard to figure this all out - please do not contact them with questions. Give them some time to sort things. ●Check https://www.jusinbello.it/news-2/ for the latest info! 100% unofficial guide to the Jus in Bello convention a work in constant progress last updated January 22, 2020 INITIAL BOOKINGS FOR JIB11, JIBLAND5, and JIB12 HAVE ALREADY TAKEN PLACE. JIB 11 has been fully booked, and those wishing to attend the convention may receive a pass by handover. It is likely there are some passes left for JIBLand 5 but I honestly don’t know for sure at this time. Contribution amounts listed will be updated as they are announced. Most of the amounts listed are from the 2019 convention unless otherwise noted. THIS DOCUMENT WILL LIKELY NOT HAVE THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT BOOKINGS OR OTHER IMPORTANT DATES. If something is from a previous year but left up for information purposes, I put it in a gray box. Always check www.jusinbello.it for the most up-to-date information. So you’re interested in attending the Jus in Bello (JIB) convention in Rome, Italy. Woohoo! If you’re lost at where to even begin, I hope this guide helps you out or makes things less confusing. Sometimes information changes from year to year, but I’ve done my best to keep this updated. Please note as you go through this document that lots of questions will come up in a particular section that will be answered later. For example - in the pass descriptions I mention that photo ops may be requested at the proper booking date and time, but I don’t mention the date or time. Since this document isn’t exclusive to this year, you may have to look up the dates on the Jus in Bello webpage (*gasp!*) If you’re looking for particular information, you can click through to the appropriate section from the outline. What’s JIB? What’s JIBLand? And who is the JIB Association? The simple answer is that JIB is a Supernatural convention, while JIBLand is a multi-fandom convention for genre shows. The more complicated answer is (taken from their website and edited for clarity) Jus In Bello is a non profit (NPO) association, born thanks to the commitment and cooperation of several professionals in different fields, mainly used to organize events. JIB staff and collaborators work for free. All funds acquired from contributions are used solely to support and promote the events. Jus In Bello conventions are private events created for associates, supporters, and partners of the association. What this means is they’re not your typical convention “company” - there are no employees who get paid, tickets are not sold, and the association reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone for any reason. Unfortunately that means you cannot volunteer at the event - they have their own multilingual staff and security. As mentioned earlier, there are no tickets sold to Jus in Bello. It is a private event to which one may request an invitation. Invitation passes are assigned based upon particular contribution amounts (more on that later). While I don’t know this for sure, it seems that the wording is that way because they are an NPO. (Being an attendee/contributor, I obviously don’t know the business side of things). Please refrain from using the words “buy” or “sell” when discussing passes, autographs, photos, or anything else related to JIB, or you may be refused entry. Instead, please use “request”, as in you’re requesting a pass or a photo op and “handover”, as in you are no longer able to attend, and you’d like to hand over your pass to someone else. (Again, more on that later). When & where is JIBLand/JIB? https://www.jusinbello.it/where-when/ In 2020, JIBLand is 13-14 May, and JIB is 15-17 May. They are at the Hilton Rome Airport in Fiumicino, Italy. The hotel is connected to the Rome airport (FCO) and around an hour from central Rome. New!!! JIB 12 will take place 11-13 December, 2020! A winter JIB! (I’ve never experienced winter in Italy so I have NO IDEA what to expect…) But I don’t speak Italian!!! That’s OK. Neither do I. Although if I had started to learn back in 2010 when I first attended JIB… At least half of the attendees don’t speak Italian. And most of the staff speak English - those who don’t speak it well do know the basics, and will always find you someone who is more fluent if you need help. Some staff members speak other languages too, such as German, Spanish, and Portuguese (depending on who’s helping that year). And obviously the guests, for the most part, (with the possible exception of Sebastian Roche because that dude can speak a bit of EVERY language it seems!) also don’t speak Italian. Hotel staff all speak at least basic English, so you have nothing to worry about. (That said, it’s always nice to learn important phrases, such as “I don’t speak Italian”, “Please”, “Thank you”, “I’d like another beer, please”, and “Don’t judge me for my giant cardboard cutout of Sam Winchester”) Who are the guests? The most up-to-date guest list may be found at http://jusinbello.it/index.php/en/guests. Take note that there are both “regular” guests and “bonus” guests. Autographs for regular guests are included in Prophet, Angel, Demon/Red, and Hunter/Green passes, while autographs for bonus guests are not included in any pass. If a guest has to unfortunately cancel, check with the JIB website for information. In 2019, David Giuntoli was replaced by Ricky Whittle - all of David’s extras become Ricky extras. If you would prefer to exchange these extras (NOT the included autograph, but extra autographs), you may do so for any of those still available, at the registration desk after the start of the convention. The few times a guest has had to cancel without a replacement, attendees could trade the value of their extras for other extras or receive a refund. Remember that if a guest cancels last minute due to an emergency, JIB staff (and the other guests!) will do their best to find solutions that will make everyone as happy as possible. 2020 Regular guests as of January 22, 2020 JIBLand 5 (MAY 2020): JIB 11: JIB 12: Tom Ellis Jensen Ackles Jensen Ackles Ricky Whittle Jared Padalecki Jared Padalecki Reeve Carney Misha Collins Misha Collins Karl Urban Adam Fergus Matt Cohen Matt Cohen Richard Speight, Jr. Richard Speight, Jr. Rob Benedict Rob Benedict Ruth Connell 2020 BONUS guests as of January 22, 2020 JIBLand 5 (MAY 2020): JIB 11: JIB 12: Sebastian Stan Briana Buckmaster Jason Manns: Richard Speight, Jr. Billy Moran Jason Manns Jason Manns Rob Benedict Reeve Carney Billy Moran What pass types are there? https://www.jusinbello.it/pass-2/ There are 5 types of passes: Prophet, Angel, Demon/Red, Sinner/Violet, and Hunter/Green. They are assigned by sending an email at the proper time and date on a “first-come, first-served” basis, starting with Angel Pass #1. (For JIB 11/JIBLand 5 in 2020, the initial general booking date was June 15, 2019. The initial general booking dates are 6 - 7 December, 2019, depending on your priority.) Angel €770 contribution for JIBweek in May 2020, which includes JIB 11 and JIBLand 5 €660 contribution for JIB 12 in December 2020 Angel passes are assigned in the order in which emails are received at the time of request. This is one pass for both JIB and JIBLand. Angel passes include: ● One autograph with every regular guest ● Priority line for every activity ● Assigned seat in the stage room, behind Prophets (depending on pass number) for panels ● Same assigned seats for the “regular” evening entertainment. ■ For 2019 this included Jason, Billy, & Laura on Wednesday night, and Jason, Rob, & Billy on Saturday night. Details for 2020 have not yet been announced. Previous years had Jason & Reeve playing on Thursday night instead of a Wednesday night show ● Same assigned seat for karaoke You are able to request any extras - photos, autographs, special events - when they become available through the regular request process. The other 3 types of passes are only valid for either JIB or JIBLand. If you wish to attend both events with the following pass types, you may request both passes at the same time.
