IEEE TRANSACTIONS JOURNALS AND LETTERS Guidelines for Author Supplied Electronic Text and Graphics Introduction p Fonts p Acceptable File Formats p Unacceptable File formats p Dots Per Inch p Sizing of Graphics p Size of Author Photographs p Print Color Graphics Requirements p Preparing Electronic Graphics for Submission p Naming Convention p Multiple-Part Figures p Transmitting Graphics Files p Graphics Checker Tool p Web Color Graphics p CIEEE AUTHOR GUIDELINES Guidelines for electronic text ?les The IEEE electronically processes all its Transactions Journals and Letters To complete the production and ?nal printing of your paper the Transactions Department will need to receive your electronic ?les in the formats described below General Instructions Files should be submitted via e-mail CD DVD or on-line manuscript submission as directed by your society publication Note the operating system software and version number used to create your ?les Make sure your ?les are self contained i e that there are no pointers to your system setup Check that your ?le is complete Please submit one ?le that contains abstract index terms text references footnotes biographies and ?gure captions Please include all necessary contact information including the e-mail address to which you would like your PDF proof noti ?cation sent charts drawings tables and photographs will be referred to as a graphic Acceptable File Formats All graphics may be submitted electronically in Postscript PS Encapsulated Postscript EPS Tagged Image File Format TIFF Microsoft Word Microsoft Power Point Microsoft Excel or Portable Document Format PDF As part of the production process all submitted ?les are converted to TIFF format If there is a problem with your initial submission your Transactions Journals sta ? editor will contact you for a revised electronic graphic If the revised graphic is unusable we will scan your hardcopy and you may submit a new graphic during the page proof process Graphics submitted in other formats may be rejected and may need to be scanned Unacceptable File Formats In general ?les prepared as GIF JPEG WMF PNG and BMP or in any other ?le formats not listed are not acceptable and will not be processed If you have a speci ?c question about formats please contact the IEEE Graphics Help Desk at graphics ieee org Software For the most accurate and e ?cient processing of your manuscript especially if it contains extensive mathematics use LaTeX or Microsoft Word Include macros used with your ?les Set manuscript column size to picas ? wide IEEE LaTeX style ?les and TRANS -JOUR DOC an author template and user ? s guide for Microsoft Word are available at http www ieee org organizations pubs transactions stylesheets htm When using Word please use the equation editor for equations or symbols Manuscripts written in other word processors such as Wordperfect or Framemaker are acceptable but math may need to be rekeyed into a TeX format Please note that while PDFs should be included with your submission as an accurate representation of your paper a PDF is not acceptable as
