Our ShopBuilder not only allows you to quickly create and manage an online shop within your site, but it also makes it really easy for you to share your products on Facebook and Twitter. How to create an online shop 3 Here’s what you’ll need when building your shop… A Moonfruit website. If you don’t already have one, you’ll have to set one up. You can add several images for each product, so select your best images to show your products in the best possible light. Organise your product details. By default this is set to £GBP in the shop settings, but you can easily switch by unlocking the currency options and then selecting your preferred choice from the drop-down menu. 6 Moonfruit . Go to ‘Additional charges’ in the same panel and open the drop-down menu. 9 For each region you can have multiple shipping options according to the number of products bought or price range. Additional item fee This is for charging your visitors less/more if they wish to purchase two or more of the same product. For example… Say an item costs £10 and the shipping price is £5, you could add an additional charge of £1, should they choose to buy two of these items. Price range fees The latter option lets you set an extra cost over a range of items/prices i.e. If you spend… £0.00 to £4.99 the fee is £1 £5.00 to £9.99 the fee is £2 £10.00 and above the fee is £3 You can’t use Additional fees and Price range fees for the same shipping option. Categories Adding your products to relevant categories helps to order your product list and allows your visitors to easily find what they want. To set a category up, simply click Add a category and enter a category name that best describes the group of items e.g shoes, t-shirts, bags... Moonfruit . How to create an online shop 13 Then, add an image to represent the category by clicking the blank image box, and then Change. This will let you make a choice from the files in your library. Do make sure the image relates to the category and is easy to identify. Moonfruit . How to create an online shop 14 Adding products Got to Product List and click Add product in the top-right. In the Add product panel you can apply all the info relating to the item you’re selling e.g. the name of the product, a brief description of what it is and how much you want to charge. (Try to keep product names short and descriptions clear and concise). Moonfruit . How to create an online shop 15 Quantity This is set to ‘Unlimited’ by default but you can deselect that and type in the actual number of items you have in stock. If you set a quantity each time you sell a product, the stock number will decrease automatically. If your product is custom-made you can still keep the unlimited option on. Remember that you can set notifications in the ‘Settings’, so that you can be warned when your items are running low. SKU ...Or Stock Keeping Unit. This is a way of identifying a product through an external stock management service. If you have something like that set up, then this is where you would drop the ID/Number. The SKU number entered will then appear when making the payment on PayPal as the item number. If you don’t have this feature set up just leave this field blank. Our built-in stock management features will take care of the rest. Moonfruit . How to create an online shop 16 Product options Do you have products that come in different colours and sizes? This is where you can add those options. Tick the box to open the Product Options menu. If you already defined a price for the product it’s assumed that you’ll be charging the same amount for these variations. But you can manually amend prices if you do want to charge more/less. You can add as many Product Options as you like and both price and quantity can change for each one. For the moment, you can only choose one set of options i.e. you can’t have colours as well as sizes. It’s one or the other. Moonfruit . How to create an online shop 17 However, you can get around this by combining options, such as: In the customer view, all the options you set will appear in a drop-down menu next to the price of the product. Using the drop-down menu on the right-hand side of each option, you can show when a product is Available, Coming soon, Hidden or Sold out.
