BIBLIOGRAPHY What is Bibliography?  sometimes titled as “References” or “Works Cited”.  an alphabetical list of sources and materials that have been drawn upon the study and not necessarily every work examined during the research.  The list enables the reader to judge the discrimination and scholarly grasp of the researcher in relation to his research study. For a Book  The details required are (as cited in the RPDC Research Writing Guidelines 2002): 1.name/s of author/s, editor/s, compiler/s (surname, and initials or given name),or the institution responsible  2. year of publication 3. title of publication and subtitle if any (all titles must be underlined or italicized) 4. series title and individual volume if any 5. edition if other than first 6. publisher 7. place of publication Examples: For an Article  The details required are:  1. name/s of author/s of the article (surname and initials or given name)  2. year of publication  3. title of article in single quotation marks  4. title of periodical (underlined or italicized)  5. volume number  6. issue (or part) number  7. page number(s) Example:  Powers, Ann, "New Tune for the Material Girl." The New York Times, New York, NY. (3/1/98): Atlantic Region, Section 2, p. 34.  Jordan, Jennifer, "Filming at the Top of the World." Museum of Science Magazine. For Electronic Sources  The basic form of the citations follow the principles listed for print sources:  1. name/s of author/s  2. date of publication  3. title of publication  4. publisher/organization  5. edition, if other than first  6. type of medium<  7. date item retrieved  8. name of site or address on internet (if applicable) Example:  Ellen Block, (September 15, 1995).
