Série Antiquité), 2018, 301 pages. Avant d'être le souverain restauré sur son trône d'Ithaque, Ulysse a connu une existence très différente sous les murs de Troie. C'est celle-ci que l'auteur s'efforce de retrouver dans cet ouvrage en la confrontant à celle des autres héros guerriers de l'Iliade. L'étude prolonge quelques intuitions de Georges Dumézil relisant l'oeuvre d'Homère. Ulysse devient alors un personnage beaucoup plus complexe que le marin narguant le balourd Polyphème ou courant de port en port les bonnes fortunes.
