C'est celle-ci que l'auteur s'efforce de retrouver dans cet ouvrage en la confrontant à celle des autres héros guerriers de l'Iliade. L'étude prolonge quelques intuitions de Georges Dumézil relisant l'oeuvre d'Homère.
