DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Thanks for supporting this project by purchasing a DIYThermocam This step-by-step manual will lead you through the process of building your own thermal imager To assemble the device you need the following tools A soldering iron some solder a knife a gripper a nippers and a screwdriver The Lepton sensor board will arrive in a separate package from my partner GroupGets USA please wait for the package to arrive before you start assembling the device DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Catch the PCB the microcontroller and one of the two header strips Cut the header strip into the following pieces with a gripper x x and x DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Plug the microcontroller into the header pieces Put them into the PCB and make sure they sit tight otherwise the cutout in the closure will not match Solder the pins on the top DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Turn the PCB around make sure the microcontroller still sits tight Solder the pins on the bottom Remove the overlapping pieces with a gripper Re-solder the pins to make sure they are connected to the PCB DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Catch the ?ve resistors from the mixed parts bag There are two di ?erent kinds of resistor K K They need to be soldered into the right position marked with the corresponding label The three resistors with the red color band have K ohm the two remaining have K ohm Solder them into the PCB and cut the overlapping wire pieces on the backside Then solder the transistor and do the same with the overlapping pieces DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C The next step is to solder the step-up converter to the PCB Use the -pin header that is also included in the same bag and solder it to the PCB Then solder the converter board to the header and cut the overlapping pins DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Catch four M x bolts the longer ones and eight nuts Push the bolts throught the holes inside the PCB from the bottom side and screw two nuts to the top of each screw Tighten the nuts with a gripper DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Take the camera module and put it on top of the four screws Safe it with four additional nuts and tighten them Solder the ?ve pins on the backside DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Catch the Lepton board and remove the Lepton from it by pushing it out carefully Bend the -pin header forward and backwards a couple of times until it drops o ? from itself Use a small screwdriver or your ?ngers to remove the -pin plastic socket from the pins Put the Lepton back into the plastic bag so that it is stored safe for the rest of the assembly procedure DIY-Thermocam Assembly Guide Page C Grab the -pin right-angle female header and solder it into the PCB Solder one pin ?rst then make sure it sits really tight
