MTI Path was launched by the Department of Health in and is designed to allow medical graduates to come to the UK to undertake specialised pathological training in the NHS for a maximum of months before returning to their home country providing they have the support of the relevant Royal College The MTI operates under the Government Authorised Exchange GAE sub category of the Tier visa category The Royal College of Pathologists RCPath will act as the ? professional sponsor ? through the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges AoMRC who is the overarching visa sponsor and is responsible for issuing the Tier Certificate of Sponsorship CoS which enables an applicant to apply for their Tier visa The Certificate of Sponsorship will only be issued if the application is supported by the RCPath The Tier visa is issued for a maximum year period HOW TRAINEES BENEFIT FROM THE MTI PATH SCHEME Allows the medical graduates to come to UK to undertake specialised pathological training in the NHS for a maximum of months before returning to their home country Helps to cultivate strong personal ties between overseas trainees and the UK Trusts Trainee gains access to the College ? s e-portfolio for the duration of your placement Support of Educational Supervisor who will act as a mentor and assist trainee in reviewing his her progress during their training Some Trusts may provide trainee with a peer trainee- Buddy who will be able to help them during their transition to the UK Access to the high standard training in their chosen specialty Trainees undertaking the MTI Path Scheme are encouraged to prepare for and sit the FRCPath Part and or Part examinations Page WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT ROUTES TO SPONSORSHIP There are two routes offered by the College to gain sponsorship through its MTI PATH scheme The MTI PATH COLLEGE ROUTE It is for those trainees who have not been offered a placement but want to undertake clinical training in the NHS trust for a maximum of months before returning to their home country THE MTI PATH TRUST ROUTE It is for those trainees who have themselves secured a suitable placement within
