The Ancestors Call Species Document: Mordunian INTRODUCTION The following document is for members of the Alteri Confederacy. It gives a brief overview of our new allies: their natural abilities, reproductive methods, culture, history and census data. Species that may not have the strongest relationship with the Mordunian people should work towards building bridges to sway their viewpoint as this increases the confederacy’s strength through unity. The Mordunian people live on the planet of Mordun, nestled at the heart of the Belvid system. They have a spiritual history that rivals even that of the Kahlians and have a perspective that many of us fail to share. They looked to their own planet for the answers of life, having not once looked to the stars - until now. We hope that you will find this document helpful in any Mordunian dealings. We would like to thank those of Echo Base and all bases on the planet Mordun for helping open our new allies’ to the real threat of the Hand of Xerus. Spots can extend over the forehead and even down the sides of your body. NATURAL ABILITIES Carnivore: 1/ day claws measuring no more than 1’ in length. Claws must be white in colour and will be summoned if your ‘hunting trigger’ is set off. The claws act equivalent to a plasma weapon, though do not get shut down with EMP. They can be disarmed (this just means the wielder lost focus due to a cunning maneuver by the combatant). Claws last a total of 1 minute per total upload once summoned. Once the claws disappear the user takes the weakened effect. A blood hunter is not unable to control his hunting instincts, but if his/her trigger is set off then a hunt must be conducted ending in a kill. A hunting trigger can be decided on in a characters backstory and should be worked out with the organization team before the character comes into play. Vegetarian: 1/day the Mordunian is able to speak with plot and determine if water or soil has been contaminated. Though this may not give the location or source of the contaminate. Omnivore: 1/day the Mordunian may call ‘Resist’ to any mental effect. GOVERNMENT In the beginning the Mordunian people had clan leaders that were elected mostly through strength of arm and proven record of providing for their clan. Later this turned into a monarch elected through birth. Then a method of spiritual selection caused the Mordunian people to become united as one. This guidance from the selected spiritual leaders bound the people together like the great roots of the Kierken tree. Some believe that the Kahlian people were helping to orchestrate this world government. Most scholars tend to agree with this notion as it would explain how the Mordunian people were able to transition from warring tribes to a world government so quickly. Spiritual rule finally failed and turned into democracy. The tribes or families as they were now called still held a place in the overall society, though now a leader for Mordun was elected. Historically this leader was usually from one of the families/tribes, but this was not always the case. After centuries of democratic rule and an almost complete loss of the Blood Hunter and Kierken Tree faiths the world was tossed into upheaval. The wasting was unable to be stopped through science and after the great war mentioned in history the world government was doomed to fail. Over time most villages formed kept to the principles of democracy and elected village chieftans while some of the more isolated villages gave in to the ways of the blood hunters and existed in a more monarchal fashion. HISTORY The Mordunian people in the first era had an oral history for recording history. The Kahlians took it upon themselves to observe the Mordun people. Starting in the 103 year of the galaxy standard calendar and recorded what they could. Below is a summary of what they recorded ERA OF BLOOD: 103 - 572GS During this time period the Mordunian people went from clans to monarchies. They existed in a primarily hunter/gatherer lifestyle following packs of terrocats or herds of prongers. As clans/tribes began to evolve they started to adopt heraldry of the beast in which they hunted. During this time period the most feared clan were the Zhen’Tra bearing the symbol of the Xotle. This Zhen’tra were able to unite many of the Mordunian tribes and believed that any weakness should be struck down. The Era of blood ended when the Zhen’Tra tribe was defeated and almost completely eradicated. More information on the Era of Blood can be researched through the Kahlian Embassy in the Belvid system. ERA OF ENLIGHTENMENT: 573 - 1312GS This era ushered in the golden age of the Mordunian people. They developed agriculture and eventually industry. With the guidance of the Kahlian people their greatest achievement in this age was not technology, but peace with the implementation of a world government. During this era spirituality through ancestral worship reached its height and its ultimate low before undergoing a revival right at the end of the era. It was during the last 100 years of this era that the wasting is thought to have started; sickness began to spread and in 1312gs the era was declared over and the new era began. ERA OF WASTING: 1313 - 2775GS Not since the destruction of the Zhen’tra had such a war been seen. The Mordunian people in 1450 GS had already lost a third of their cities and the world government had begun to decay. The spiritualists had turned once more into a major power in the government and it seemed that all was lost. They could discover no way to stop the spread of the wastelands and the Kahlians had been asked to leave more than two centuries previous due to their meddling ways. Then some jumps in science came about unexpectedly (we now believe that discovered Seftossi technology had a part to play here). The Mordunian government decided to attempt genetic manipulation to allow the Mordunian people to survive within the wastelands. Doing so was discovered to completely alter a Mordunian into something else, the spiritual leaders rallied against such ‘mutation’ and soon a line was drawn between the world government and the spiritual leaders. The government refused to back down and experiments continued with splicing and genetic manipulation until a Mordunian was created that could survive. It was that day that the government failed and the shelkers were created. A war erupted on three fronts, those that supported the government's decision and continued to seek a scientific answer, those of spiritual bent that believed the solution lie with the ancestors and survival in conjunction with the Kierkan tree and the Shelkers, mutants that seemed to only want to kill and procreate. It was after the war and the complete destruction of the world government that villages started to form and trade amongst one another. A semblance of peace returned though the environment even in the healthiest of areas had become dangerous with the Shelker mutations that were ever present. The villages found themselves hard pressed most of the time and it was the year 2310 when the V’racians first arrived and offered their assistance. All the Mordunians needed to do was swear to the V’racian Empire. Most villages agreed and were able to survive with V’racian assistance while the few that didn't were destroyed or scattered. RELIGION Mordunian religion is more of a spirituallity, both streams relate to ancestor worship just in different ways. This spirituality is based on two different versions of an old story. One leads to the worship of the Kierken tree while the other leads to worship of blood and the hunt. WAY OF THE KIERKAN TREE “Long ago the first ancestor fought the first Mudar’Endrian beneath the bows of a great tree.” Says the elder “Our ancestor won right? right?”chirps a young boy sitting amongst a group of Mordunian children. “The battle raged for many days and nights, both the vicious Mudar’Endrian and the first ancestor dealing blow after uploads/s1/ jordanian-guide.pdf
