T3 Installation Guide: Introduction 1 Introduction The purpose of this document is to describe the installation process and dependencies for the T3 product suite of simulators. 1.1 Scope of Document This document describes the environment and sample data structures initially installed with T3. It also guides the user through any decisions required in that process. 1.2 Target Audience This document is targeted at testers and test managers responsible for installing the T3 simulator. It also enables you to set up and maintain the data for tests, such as communication channels, terminals and card data. 2.1 Component Overview The T3 Product Suite consists of the following individual components:  T3 Editor The program used to create new test configurations, test profiles and data, or amend existing tests. The T3 Editor enables you to set up and manage the test data (including communication channels) which is stored in an ODBC database. It also enables you to manage your configurations and profiles for the both the functional and stress test profiles. Required for anyone setting up and/or maintaining test data.  T3 Server This is a database application server for the Editor and Runner components. It may be run manually or as a Windows service. Multiple servers may exist across multiple machines as required.  T3 (Functional) Runner This program enables you to carry out functional testing for the protocols for which you are licensed. Required for anyone running functional tests.  T3 Stress This program is used solely to execute stress tests. Required for anyone running stress tests.  T3 Results Analysis This program allows you to view historical data for both functional and stress tests, and to compare the results of individual tests.  T3 Manager Service A command-line administrative tool which installs the Server as a service and imports/exports to/from the database.  Data Import Tool This enables you to import data from existing T3 configurations or flat files.  Samples Each protocol has pre-built samples files to assist in testing. Dependent on the protocol, this also contains message profiles used to build submit or receive profiles. During the install process, you will be able to select which components you want to install. The configuration and profile files are not stored in the database, but in the Samples directory on a local machine. Note: Any subsequent installations or re-installations will not overwrite any files in here. 3.2 Imgs This required directory contains the icons used by T3. 3.3 Logs This default supplied directory is initially empty and is used by:  The supplied samples profiles (see the following section) for logging  The database upgrader utility 3.4 Samples The samples directory is provided to give examples for the various protocols installed. You may want to directly use what is provided. Note: Any subsequent installations or re-installations will not overwrite any files in here. Therefore if you want to upgrade your samples, you should delete or rename the existing folders and/or files first.
