Internal Note The edits made strive to maintain consistency in regards to font, boldface/italicized lettering, and white space. The style guide proposed was made from communications about past projects revolving around the libguide. Please use the style guide as our reasoning for all changes we have made. Communicate what you would like to change and we will make the necessary changes consis- tent throughout the website. I also believe that the login information for the library is out of date. The current login informations asks for the NID and NID password whereas the libguide asks for the PID. Style Sheet Heading, Body Text, and Sentence Structure: • Georgia Typeface (body text) • Veranda Typeface (headings) • Boldfaced font style used for titles of pages within libguide. Practice Exercises 1, 2, 3, and 4: • Use Bullets when listing instructions/steps • Remove highlighting from answers • Create white space before/after illustrations and borders • Questions should be in boldface, and answers should be in regular font styles. • All questions have four answers, even if one of them is “none of the above”. Font Styles for Instructions for Students: • Boldface- Used in reference to what the student should type into a search box. • Boldfaced and Italicized- Used in reference to the tabs the student should click. • Italicized - fonts used for the title of lists. • parenthesis- used for hints and notes. Citing Tab: • Take away unnecessary capitalizations • Add correct hyperlinks and delete or fix the discontinued links. • Use quotation marks only to cite direct information out of the libguide. Internet Tab: • To clarify the difference between the World Wide Web and the Internet, combine all informa- tion in the Internet and Terminology tabs, and apply a single definition with a single example of functionality will fix this confusion. Header and body fonts and spacing: • Bold, 18 pt. font in headers. • Non-bold, 12 pt. font in body. • Single spaced. Illustrations and other graphic: • Surround illustrations and other graphics with black outline. • Leave two lines of space between body text and illustrations/graphics. Practice 1 Practice Exercise 1 Finding eBooks using OneSearch Go to http://library.ucf.edu/Databases and login with your library ID number or PID and Password. On the left hand side of the page, select OneSearch and click on Advanced Search. Type video game* in the first box. (Note: using the asterisk* at the end of a root word will also search for variations of each term such as game and games.) Type addiction in the second box. Change the field to TX All Text Fields (Hint: try TX All Text Fields to search beyond the regular fields such as the title, subject headings and table of contents and retrie- ves results with the term anywhere within the full text of an article or eBook). !
