Newbie Guide This guide will be updated as each stage of the course is released. Whether you're a newbie or not, if at any point you are feeling a little stuck it may help to skim through this guide to help you on your way again. Here you'll find answers to all the common questions I usually receive and i'll add to this as requested (or required). What's the difference between Niche Selection and Keyword Selection. Once you've read the first 2 modules you may be wondering why I have seperated these 2 in such a big way. In actual fact niches and keywords can (and do) run into each other frequently, when researching niches it's not uncommon to find keywords aswell. For the purposes of research, A niche is broad topic that has a group of smaller tighter themed keywords within it. The term “Health” is a niche as is the term “health insurance” but one is far broader than the other. For example let's take this one step further and look at “medical health insurance”. Is this a niche, or a keyword? In actual fact it could still be either. It really depends on how tightly themed you're end keywords are, and this depends on what your research tells you. If the term “health insurance” throws up thousands of keywords but doesn't drill down to specific easy-to-rank-for phrases then you would look for a tighter niche, perhaps “medical health insurance”. This phrase would generate less results but you would be more likely to find good keywords to target. On the flip-side, A keyword is the actual phrase you are targetting on each of your webpages. Your website might be about “medical health insurance” and this is your niche. But each page on your website would represent one main keyword within that niche. So a keyword within this niche might be “comprehensive medical insurance” or “low income health insurance”. So niches and keywords are really defined by the amount of traffic and the amount of competition there is. Digging down to find a niche like this is often reffered to as finding a “micro-niche”. How to open a Google Adsense account. Opening an Adsense account is simple but you DO need to have a website BEFORE you apply. It doesn't have to be a site you've built using this course (although it can be). It could just be a personal blog. Just make sure it has good quality UNIQUE content that someone would want to read. It doesn't have to be award winning, just not junk. You can apply for an account here: https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1 You will have to give personal details such as your full address, telephone number, and email address. In the site building section of Adsense Fortress I will be explaining how to best create your website for SEO purposes. You will learn how to use various tags and some very basic html, site layout, and many other on-page optimization fators. What I can't teach you in this course is how to use which ever site-buiding program to you choose to work with. This is simply because each one would require a course in itself. There is a little advice I can give you though... If you've yet to purchase a site-building tool then there are literally hundreds of options out there. Personally I use Dreamweaver but there are cheaper options. Just make sure your program has a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. This saves you having to learn code. I can honestly say I know very little code and couldn't create my own website without a WYSIWYG editor. The plain fact is that you just don't need to learn this. Also helpful (but not essential) is a program that has built-in FTP. Whichever program you choose, just spend a couple of days learning the basics and forget the advanced stuff for now. You just don't need it. Also – While I DON'T condone the use of PLR content, there's nothing wrong with using PLR templates. Check out the resources section for some places to buy templates. By using these you can just edit things a little and add your content as shown in the course. Short-Tail and Long Tail: In this course you will be targeting longtail keywords. Generally, a short tail phrase would be your niche idea such as “coffee beans”, whereas a longtail phrase would be “buy wholesale coffee beans”. There are two benefits to targetting long-tail keywords.. 1. They are generally far easier to achieve a high ranking for in S.E.R.P.S (Search Engine Results Pages). 2. It has been proven that A surfer typing in a long-tail keyword is far more likely to take an action.
