Four meetings of steering committee were organized in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Apart from the meetings the draft was circulated and recommendations of the members of steering committee was accepted by email, courier and post. The role of steering committee was to: 1. Guide and support the secretariat in its functioning 2. Assist and advise and if possible share responsibility in background research, analysis, preparation of draft report 3. Review and confirm the draft report 4. Assist and advise on wider feedback to the draft report. 5. Since this document is a consensus standard, a steering committee was formed keeping in mind the integrity of the process and the acceptance of the recommendations of the committee by the industry. The document was adopted after the draft was finalized by the steering committee through a series of meetings held throughout India. To cater to the needs of the present building industry, this document has been made keeping in mind the latest International Standards and the building practices.
