It is the capital of Australia and as you’d expect from a city whose inhabitants run one of the world’s top 20 economies, it’s vibrant and cosmopolitan. Residents of Canberra are among the healthiest, wealthiest and most highly educated people in Australia. It’s a friendly, safe place with a growing population of 380,000 but with all the amenities of a much larger city. It is home to excellent entertainment and sporting venues, fresh food markets, wineries and some of the country’s most important cultural institutions, including the National Museum, the National Gallery of Australia and the Australian War Memorial. In both programs students come to the University of Canberra for a minimum of one semester and a maximum of one academic year. Students study full time to achieve credit which is applied to their home university degree. Study Abroad Students pay their tuition fees directly to the University of Canberra. Exchange Students pay their tuition fees to their home university. KYLE DREW JONES UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO The exchange program at UC can be described as generous, knowledgeable and adventurous. From trips to tips of Australian culture, the UC exchange program covers it all. STUDENT TESTIMONIAL STUDY REQUIREMENTS Study Abroad and Exchange students are required to study full time at UC. You are expected to enrol in the standard full time load of 12 credit points (normally four classes) unless you have special permission from your home university to enrol in our minimum full time load of 9 credit points. Most units (classes/ subjects/modules) at UC are valued at 3 credit points, requiring an average of 150 hours of individual study and class time during the semester. The amount of time you will need to spend studying for each unit will depend on a number of factors including your prior knowledge, learning skill level and learning style. Study Abroad and Exchange students can study across all our faculty areas and take any units offered in the appropriate semester, providing all eligibility requirements are met. At UC, your timetable will be composed of lectures and tutorials. For each subject you study, you will be scheduled to attend one or two lectures, plus a tutorial or practical class. A lecture is usually a more formal class held in a lecture theatre and often contains a large number of students. A tutorial is a smaller, less formal group where you are expected to participate and discuss ideas and theories arising from your lecture. The tutorials allow you to receive more personal attention from your tutor, who is available to discuss your academic work and provide assistance throughout the semester. University of Canberra assessment is based primarily on the completion of assignments and essays which can vary from 1,000 to 4,000 words. There are usually three to four assessments and a final examination (or long essay) per class each semester. There is a great deal of individual study involved. Most units do not have a weekly class test uploads/Litterature/ uc-sa-guide.pdf
