The ceremony will be held on Sun 13 Jan 2013. BASIN OF BEATS A new summer festival has just been revealed. Shotover Sunshine Festival will be held over Waitangi weekend at the The Wakatipu Basin. The festival will take place on Sat Feb 9 from midday to 1am at Littles Road, Queenstown. Nestled in the beautiful grasslands beside the Shotover River, only 10 minutes from central Queenstown. The lineup includes Kora, The Black Seeds, Tiki Taane, Ladi6, The Upbeats, Sola Rosa, Ahoribuzz, Sunshine Sound System, Funkommunity, Rhythmonyx, a special live Kapa Haka performance and more. BACK TO THE BOOKS R&B /Hip Hop sensation Drake has finally earned his high school diploma at age 25 after dropping out when he took a starring role on the hit Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation. Drake tweeted mid October. “One of the greatest feelings in my entire life. As of tonight I have graduated high school!” Drake isn’t the only music star to score a diploma recently either. Back in July, Justin Bieber earned his high school diploma from the St. Michael Catholic Secondary School in Stratford, Ontario. Stay in school kids... even multi platinum selling artists need a back up career. 95BFM XMAS PARTY This year’s bFM Xmas Party has been announced. Finalists Loui the ZU, Watercolours and Beach Pigs each performed a live set at the King’s Arms in Auckland last Wednesday night in front of a packed crowd and a panel of 13 music critics. The critics were tasked with selecting just one recipient; someone they believe has the potential to win a Tui in the future. Following an impressive set, Watercolours - the stage name of Auckland’s Chelsea Jade Metcalf - took home the prize. Watercolours says: “I am completely blindsided by this win as all of the performers brought their ‘A’ game tonight. It is encouraging to see the support there is for my music.” The Critics’ Choice Prize, now in its third year, is designed to recognise and promote up-and- coming Kiwi music talent and potential future music awards winners.
