You know what that means? It’s time to find something new. I’m happy with the company I work for, and I’m even happy with the group I’m in and I really like my boss. However, none of that is a good excuse to stop learning as much as possible. And the best way to learn as much as possible is to take a new job. Change Jobs Every Two Years Let me be clear, I’m not planning to leave my current company. In fact, I’ve already talked to my boss about my desire to find a new job, specifically a promotion, in a different group. Once you’ve gotten really good at a job, you’ll want to do that job for about a year to execute on the skills you’ve learned and be a highly productive worker. After a year of execution at a high level, it’s time to hand off all your hard work to someone else and go solve a new problem. It’s dangerous to work a job for a really long time for two reasons. First, you have very little job security when you are only good at one thing. If your company no longer needs that one thing, you’ll probably lose your job. Secondly, it is much harder for you to move into a new position and get a promotion. When you work the same job for 8 years, your boss relies on you to do that job. He or she may be unwilling to promote you because you are deemed vital to that particular function. It is also hard to sell yourself to a new manager and convince them that you can learn a new job when you haven’t learned anything new in a decade. Say goodbye to any big promotions and raises. Kevin McKee est un employé dans une entreprise, il aime bien son travail ainsi que son patron, et il cherche de trouver un nouveau travail tous les deux ans puisque c’est la meilleure façon d’apprendre de facon plus efficace. D’après l’idée de Kevin il est dangereux de travailler pendant très longtemps dans le même travail pour deux raisons. D'une part, l’employé est moins protégé lorsqu’il est bon que dans un seul domaine et donc par consequent peut perdre son emploi facilement. D'autre part, il aura du mal a accéder à un nouveau poste et obtenir une promotion. En effet, quand l'employeur reste dans la meme entreprise pour une longue durée, il maîtrise bien ses taches et devient vital a ces dernieres, il sera donc dur pour lui de convaincre un nouveau manager et de changer son poste vu qu’il n’a rien appris de nouveau depuis une décennie. Finalement, il est très important pour un employé d’être polyvalent, flexible et currieux d’apprendre le maximum possible des choses. Pour cette raison, il aura plus de chances d’être choisi parmi les autres employés pour des nouveaux postes et des nouvelles promotions. EXPRESSION (10 points) Read the statement of an American millionaire who was in London in August 2003 to tell the British how to get rich. ‘The most dangerous advice you can give a child is to go to school, do well and look for a safe, secure job.’ Answer the following question in ENGLISH: Explain what this statement means, and say whether you agree or disagree with it as far as your professional experience and your future job are concerned. (250 words at least) Nowadays, parents are obsessed with their children to study well, get good grades, and have a secure job. They used to tell them that the main cause of poverty or financial struggle came from lack of studying and absence of diplomas. According to the idea of the writer, it is dangerous to advice children to go to school and get good school results to secure their jobs so their financial future. Does studying at school guarantee you a financially secure future ? From my standpoint, studying is important to improve the basic skills. It is necessary for a child to know how to read, write and speak. Also, going to school allow him to learn different languages that will help in his carrer. However, i think that studying it’s not enough at all to get a safe finacially futur ; It is an old and a traditional advice that parents used to tell. They have to play with a new set of rules ! Success is all about mindset and experience, it is an education that a child couldn't get at school or learn in books. In effect, parents should insist on upbringing the personality of their children and avoid teaching them the poor mindset. Poor mindset is all about the short-term returns. Hours-for-dollars. Resources invested without an immediate return are resources wasted. In the contrary, rich mindset understands that the first goal is to gain a surplus of resources. Then, to use that surplus to accelerate business. It seeks to spend time, resources, and energy on work that continues to pay off long after the effort has been invested. What is more, children often don’t like studying and they fail mostly in this path. while they have a lot of capacity to succeed in other fields. At last, i hold the same opinion with this statement that the advice of focusing on school and grades can destroy a child’s future. Studying can’t guarantee a financially secure future.
