-Coding Necessary to get NBT started: Connect E-Sys Go to Expert Mode >> Coding >> Read Vehicle Order >> Save >> Edit. This will take you to FA editor. Right click on FA and select Calculate FP. Expand FAList on left to SALAPA-element. In the bottom, add 609 and change 6NH to 6NS. Click apply. Calculate FP again. Save. Go to Expert Mode >> VCM >> Load the saved FA file in the bottom section, file tab >> Right-click FA and Calculate FP >> Go to VCM Master tab >> write FA FP. The you need to VO code NBT and Kombi as following: Expert Mode >> Coding >> Read FA (VO) >> Activate FA (VO) >> Read SVT (VCM) >> Left-Click on HU_NBT >> "Detect CAF for SWE" >> Select the latest CAFD displayed >> OK >> Right-Click on HU_NBT (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => CODE. Repeat the last step but for the BKOMBI this time. - If you have a basic cluster: (Shawnsheridan: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9670885&postcount=2 ) HU_NBT > KOMBI_CIC > kombi_low HU_NBT > BASIS_KOMBI_MMI_LIST > aktiv. -Find Donor VIN: (Shawnsheridan: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=16668915&postcount=2 ) You can go to Comfort Mode => FSC => Check FSC Status, and at the top of the Log report it will show the Head Unit VIN NBT Retrofit General Guide (Under Construction) - Fix USB in Armrest: (TokenMaster: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8077196&postcount=238 ) What I did was modify the armrest side plug. I looked at it and noticed that the tabs was symmetrical, so with 2 minor modifications, it works and looked OEM now. First modification, clip off the locking tab, like so: White plug without the locking tab: Since the cable is actually short, instead of rotating it, I removed the other part where USB devices/cables plug into. This is also symmetrical, so I rotated that 180 degrees. This is the part: HSD and the USB port connected for testing: This works with original Apple Lightning cable. My el-cheapo cables still don't, although, they do work perfectly on a higher powered USB plug like the Apple charger and my laptop ports, and even my old HU_ENTRY. BMW Apps work, charging work -again, on official Apple lightning cable only. I suspect this is due to older firmware on this NBT unit. - Touch Control: (Jalami: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=21971697&postcount=10 ) HU_NBT/3000_HMI/ZBE_TOUCH_INTERACTIVE_MAP set to aktiv HU_NBT/3000_HMI/ZBE_TOUCH_SPELLER set to aktiv HU_NBT/3000_HMI/ZBE_TOUCH_BROWSER set to aktiv HU_NBT/3004_SYSTEM/EINSTELLUNGEN/ZBE_TOUCH set to aktiv -Touch Controller (ZBE) Pins: (Shawnsheridan: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19870004&postcount=8 ) ZBE Pins: 1-12V => Pin 15 NBT 2-GND => Pin 12 NBT 3-CAN2-H => Pin 11 NBT 4-CAN2-L => Pin 09 NBT -Rewire For KCan2: (GotoMoto: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19869614&postcount=6 ) - ConnectedDrive (Vithy: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8179599&postcount=52 ) If it's Factory, the following FDL coding should work. If not try this. On your VO add the following codes. 609, 6AK, 6NS, 6NR and 616. Remove 615, 6AA, 6NF and 6NK. Make sure you do this on a copy of your VO xml file. Also Use 11/13 for Build date. Now Activate this modded FA and Code the NBT only TWICE, Yes do it two times. Once it reboots. Read Code Data, Edit FDL, 3003 > DUN_PROFILE - aktiv 3003 > PAN_PROFILE - aktiv 3003 > ONLINE_BROWSER - beide_aktiv 3003 > ONLINE_SERVICES - nicht_aktiv 3003 > ONLINE_SERVICES_GLS - nicht_aktiv 3003 > ASSIST - nicht_aktiv 3003 > ONLINE_BROWSER_LIVE - aktiv 3003 > DATACOMM_CSIM - nicht_aktiv SAVE, FDL Code this TWICE. Make sure your phone has tethering (bluetooth) enabled and you see the data icon for it under bluetooth menu. If so then go in to ConnectedDrive, Update Live/Online Service. And you should have BMW Online. Now, If you have a Retrofitted NBT. You have to do an additional Change. Edit your FA, add 609, 6AK, 6NS, 6NR and 616. Remove 615, 6AA, 6NF and 6NK. Change Build Date to 07/13 or 11/13 (Both Worked) Under FZAuftag-Header, Change the VIN number from yours to the DONOR VIN (Original VIN that your NBT came with) Make sure you put in the FULL VIN. Save it as xxx - NBT ONLY or whatever you want to call it. You would use this VO only when you use to CODE/FDL Code your NBT. Then follow the same step as you would if you had Factory installed NBT. I tried this on a Retrofitted NBT tonight/this morning. It worked. The car was on 51.3 and NBT on 50.4. We never upgraded the FW on the NBT. I did the same on my retrofitted NBT, but in my case, NBT and Car was on 51.3 and it all worked fine. - CIC to NBT (Steve@CodeMyBimmer: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15575516&postcount=480 ) To sum it up, if you are going from CIC to NBT, it is actually much easier than going from ENTRY to NBT and this will look OEM. You will only need the following hardware: NBT Head unit New screen cable PnP Emulator That's right, only three parts. You can use your existing GPS Antenna, Bluetooth Mic, iDrive controller, 8.8" CID and the combox can be kept active for the MOST connection so there is no need for a new most cable. You don't need to repin a new USB port as the one in the armrest will work 100% and you also will not need a new GPS antenna. For the Bluetooth Antenna, just use the Satellite radio FAKRA to substitute for it. The range will be much shorter but it will work. Following modifications will need to be made to your existing setup: 1) Bypass amp trigger wire to fusebox for sound 2) Glovebox USB HSD now plugs into the beige port of the NBT 3) GPS, and Sat Radio Antennas will need to be shaved to fit into the corresponding ports of the NBT head unit (Sat radio will be used as the Bluetooth FAKRA) 4) Existing mic needs to be taken out and repined to PnP emulator Following coding changes need to made for it all to work: 6AC,6AK,6AM,6AR,6NS, 6NR (Requires 9C activation code) Remove the following 6VA, 6NH HU_NBT and KOMBI will both need to be VO coded with 07/13 or 11/13 for build date. If you don't do this, your KOMBI will not display the correct graphics for the navigation info and the images will be cut off. It's been a huge learning process these couple of months but I'm glad we finally got almost everything working and I pretty much have a fully functional NBT right now and I am ecstatic with all the help that I got from 1lyfe and Vithy on this! I hope others won't be too intimidated from going from CIC to NBT because it is actually very easy and requires much less rewiring compared to going to other builds. If anyone with a F10, F12, F13, on CIC is going to NBT I believe the process should be quite similar. -CIC to NBT Bypass Combox Part 1 (Steve@CodeMyBimmer: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15575516&postcount=480 ) Huge progress this week on my CIC -> NBT retrofit. I'm 98% functional and right now, the Mic and Most connection to NBT is working! I bought a most cable but it's been over a month and I haven't received it yet. Vithy found several parameters on the combox to disable the Bluetooth Antenna and USB on the combox VCARD_OVER_MOST Nicht_Aktiv BT_EIN_AUS Nicht_Aktiv BT_OBJECT_PUSH Nicht_Aktiv There was another parameter for the USB port but I'll find it and post it once I find it. Right now, my combox remains connected, my service data and vehicle info all displays, the gong works and Navigation data displays on my KOMBI without any conflicts between the combox and NBT built combox. As for the mic, you can disconnect it and there's a two pin connector that goes into it; we just ran two new wires to the Mic + and Mic - pins on the PnP emulator and the mic works now too. Right now, the only two things that I need working are FM radio and AUX which don't really matter much at all. -CIC to NBT Bypass Combox Part 2: (Vithy: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=15576148&postcount=481 ) Disable the following functions in COMBOX, if you want to still have it plugged (Close the MOST loop for service data to be transferred to NBT) and not needing to install a new MOST cable. I think when you have both Bluetooth and USB functions active on Combox, it overrides the NBT bluetooth and USB. So we decided to try this and it worked. We even let the car sleep for sometime to see if they worked without an issue. Functions to Disable BT_EIN_AUS (This is the bluetooth function on COMBOX, start with this) A2DP_AVRCP_EIN_AUS (Don't think you need to disable this, but we did) HANDSFREE_SECONDARY (disables second phone connection) VCARD_OVER_MOST (This brings in Data to NBT, overriding it to show phone book data) API_EIN_AUS (Disables audio over USB function) USB_HUB (This was the USB port function) API_TWO_USB I have included pictures of how we rewired the Microphone. All we did was run two cable from Microphone connector (two female pins, didnt take the connector picture) to the uploads/S4/ nbt-retrofit-general-guide-under-construction-coding-necessary-to-get-nbt-started.pdf
