Die Antwoord, Fatboy Slim, Skrillex and Porter Robinson have all been signed on to play this one-off show on Friday 02 March. Tickets are on sale now through Ticket Master for $99.90. You might think that’s a little steep, but considering this one-off night is almost a festival in itself you can write it off as an expense, right? Burning Red Pennsylvania metallers August Burns Red have announced two shows in April and they’re bringing along Arizona’s explosive Blessthefall with them. And since the good promoters over at Chicks That Scream, Blue Murder and Destroy All Lines know how much the kids love the metal these days, under 18s will be able to attend the shows with their parent or legal guardian (but you’ll need ID, so no Ferris Bueller-ing, not that you’re old enough to get that reference). The bands will play at The Kings Arms in Auckland on Saturday 14 April and Wellington’s San Fran Bath House on Sunday 15 April. Tickets on sale Friday 10 February from Real Groovy, Slow Boat and Under The Radar. Can’t Hardly Wait Justin Townes Earle has announced his return to New Zealand this year. While his daddy Steve is playing two shows in early April, country punk Justin will play on Thursday 19 April at Christchurch’s Dux de Lux, Friday 20 April at Wellington’s Bodega, Saturday 21 April at The Kings Arms in Auckland and will finish up on Sunday 22 April at Leigh’s Sawmill Cafe. Tickets are available now through Real Groovy, Leigh Sawmill, Rough Peel, Penny Lane and Ticket Master. Phobia, Pause, Pie The Artefact Project will be making its debut at Auckland’s French Revolver Studio later this month. The play made its first appearance as a free show early last year and grew into an audience favourite throughout 2011. Set as three short plays that follow the relationship of two people at three separate points in time, The Artefact Project combines the three mini productions Phobia, Pause and Pie. The three nights of performances kick off in Thursday 23 February. It began in Africa Wellington’s San Fran Bath House is holding an Africa Music Day on Thursday 23 February, which organisers are describing as “An event to unite all friends of Africa together with an evening of music, song and dance”. TK Paraza, Sam Manzanza, The Afrobeat Band, Unit: Eros, MC Jinetero, San Cofa and more are all lined up to play at Africa Music Day which will also have special prizes on the night. Badd Vibes The mixed-up mish-mash of Coco Solid, Samuel Moore, Trixie Darko and Jsuave, AKA Badd Energy, have announced a tour kicking off this week in celebration of their upcoming album Underwater Pyramids through Flying Nun as well as their brand spanking new video release for ‘Ba-Zing’. The seven-date tour hits Wellington with Fantails and Stephen Jackson, Dunedin with Murder Bike, Kount Blakula and DJ Mandroid, Christchurch with Grand Chancellors, Auckland and Whanganui with Orchestra of Spheres and two Wellington shows with Orchestra of Spheres, Thought Creature, DJ TV Disko, Golden Awesome and Terror of the Deep. Omnitrix are for kids Ben 10 will be coming to life in New Zealand this April. You know him, right? He’s your son’s favourite cartoon character who can turn into aliens who was a real hot-head when he was younger but then grew up to be a stand up guy (who still turns into aliens). Cartoon Network’s BEN 10 LIVE: Time Machine brings Ben 10 characters together for five shows around the coutnry kicking off on Saturday 14 April. Heart Star Make some really romantically boring pun about stars for your valentine this week at Auckland’s Stardome Observatory and Planetarium. “Take an up close look at Venus, named for the god of love. Visit Mars, the Moon and hear stories and poems that pay tribute to the most romantic celestial objects.” If that doesn’t get your motor running, then you’re dead inside. Four shows will go down on Tuesday 14 February, with tickets available from stardome.org.nz. Space is cool and stars are romantic. Done deal. Judy is a steampunk AetherCon 2012 will be celebrating everything steampunk at the Parnell Trust Jubilee Building Hall this weekend. Saturday will see the convention bring steampunk into the limelight with fashion parades, music, fanboy chats and the steampunk ball at night with Alex the Kid, Plum Green and MissAn Thropy. Tickets are available on the door for $10 with kids under 15 free.
