Enjoy Prague! HOTELS In Prague there so many hotels that the only problem is to choose one in a nice area, mostly if you book a package with a flight you’ll get a big hotel outside the center. My suggestion is to stay in Prague 1 to be able to go everywhere without using taxies or public transportation. Most known areas of Prague 1 are old town, new town and mala strana (castle side). Not well know yet so enjoy before it gets crowded… it will. jet set - www.jetset.cz – nice bar lounge in the bottom of the icon hotel. hip and comfortable, sometimes with live music. Not super happening yet, but who knows… also has a small restaurant. I recommend it for the comfort level, décor and drinks. bar&books - www.barandbooks.cz - a nice quiet jazz adorned cocktail and cigar bar. perfect for a quiet drink. red lighting and red interior make this spot super cozy for several beverages and a nice engaging conversation with a small number of people. notice the difference in decor in the men's and women's bathrooms;) le clan - www.leclan.cz - what can i say about this place... hmmm. you will not find a better after hours in prague. fasten your seatbelt or just take a nap on one of the many soft couches. you won't go wrong here wednesday to saturday from about 5am on. ************** ALTERNATIVE ************** - roxy, dlouha - akropolis BRUNCH all brunches are with fixed rate,around 900kc - hotel radisson, the best fish brunch in prague! - hotel pariz, very nice and elegant with live piano - hotel marriott - sahara cafe', nice during summer with the garden COFFEE - Cafe' Savoy, smichov, praha 5, jus - Imperial cafe': na porici, fabulous place for the tea at 5pm , in old babylonian style - cafe' Louvre, narodni street, very nice place, with many rooms and two floors MUST SEE - the castle - charles bridge - kampa island - strahov - letna park - stromovka park - old town square and the clock tower (take a look at the change of hour) - frantiskova zahrada (gardens) - zofin island and strelecky island - dancing building - petrin park - vysehrad CULTURE czech republic: http://www.czech.cz/ http://www.prague-museums.com/ - National Museum, st vaclav square, praha 1, http://www.nm.cz/english/ - Jewish musem, jewish area, praha 1 - Museum of decorative arts, 17. listopadu 2 praha 1, www.upm.cz - national gallery, old town square - national modern gallery, dukelskych hrdinu, praha 7 - smetana museum, near charles bridge - prague castle museum - strahov monastery library, near the castle - prague town museum SPORT - Jogging or in-line skating: on Letna or Stromovka park - Golf - Ice skating: stvanice or na frantisku (both in the center) - tennis: stvanice island INFO - public transportation: www.dpp.cz it's possible to read all the timetables and ask for a route - map: www.mapy.cz , the best map for czech republic, there you can find banks, restaurants, hotel , etc. - www.kurzy.cz , change rates updated every minute ADVICES - AAA Taxi: tel. 14014 , +420 222 333 222 www.aaa-radiotaxi.cz never take taxies waiting!!! only in some areas (with yellow sign TAXI and a sign "FAIR PRICE" and only yellow one AAA if you call by phone you have rate 2 that is cheaper (to refund your call) if you take a taxi AAA waiting you'll have rate 1 ie. call taxi is 40kc, center to airport is 500kc, from center to castle is 150kc NOTE: since few weeks there are also FALSE AAA taxies , they are not yellow and they have a big sticker on the door with label: AAA taxi s.r.o. , don’t take them!!! - money change: be careful on buy/sell (nakup/prodej)differences best rates are on a small change in jungmannova (number 30 or 28, in a small passage inside building) or in front of staromestska metro station, street kaprova where meets kafka square but strongly recommended the first. tell him you are my friend to get VIP rates. uploads/Geographie/ prague-city-guide.pdf
