A lot of time and effort was spent putting this thing together and that should be taken into consideration. And remember..... "Respect is everything." Besides, contacting me will also give me an opportunity to hook up and talk shop with fellow GTA3 "thuggers"..... Introduction And General Information 0====XX====XX====XX====XX====XX====0##***##0====XX====XX====XX====XX====XX=== =0 ============================================================================= == I.1. Who Am I? ============================================================================= == My name is Robert Allen Rusk and I am a 36-year old hardcore gamer with about 28 years of gaming experience. I am an ex-gametester (Broderbund Software, LucasArts Games, Point Of View Computing) and an ex-arcade attendant (NAMCO Cyberstation - Pier 39, San Francisco, CA). I also own multiple systems such as the Sega Dreamcast, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Atari Jaguar, PlayStation 1, and, of course, the PS2. In time I hope to add the Xbox and the Amiga CD32 to my collection. I currently work at JCPenneys at one of the malls here in San Antonio, TX. Retail stinks but JCPenneys is a very stable company unlike some of the other places I have worked for in the past like internet service providers or web programming companies. I am also a member of the X-Otic Computer Systems of San Antonio (www.xcssa.org), a group who specializes in Linux, Mac, and other systems. It is here that you can see some of my RGB hack work in the photos section. This is my second strategy guide for a vidgame. Other Documents 0=============0 --Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Walkthrough (Strategy Guide) --Differences Between The Original And Double Pack Versions Of GTA3 and Vice City (FAQ) ============================================================================= == I.2. My Setup ============================================================================= == This guide was written using BBEdit Lite 6.1 and a Power Mac Workgroup Server 8550/200 (with a G3 card running at 330 MHz). I view my work in Netscape 4.7.9, Netscape 7, and Internet Explorer 5.1.5 to help in seeing how it would look on the web and correcting format errors. I also played Vice City on my Mac using the built-in video ports in the back of the 8550/200 using S-Video Monster Cables. I ran BBEdit Lite and Apple Video Player simultaneously so I can play and make changes to the guide at the same time. Most of the time my PlayStation 2 is connected to a NEC MultiSync 3D monitor using a home-brew RGB box that contains a brand new EL1883 sync separation chip which is MacroVision compatible. This allows me to watch my movies in RGB Analog, like "The Matrix", without the MacroVision copy protection signal getting in the way. My box also contains a Sony CXA1145 RGB chip (plus surrounding motherboard cut from a Sega Genesis - crude but effective) for amplification. The MultiSync 3D is an older monitor capable of doing 15KHz RGB (which is the same scan rate as a standard television) but can do 640x480 VGA (480p RGB Analog) which is good for my Mac (and Sega Dreamcast). When I want to watch my movies in RGB Analog, I use a Commodore 1084S monitor. This is because of composite-sync-on-green problems between the PS2 and the MultiSync. The reasons are long and technical so I won't bore you with the details. But watching movies in pristine RGB Analog is great. "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" (Extended Version) looks fantastic in RGB. The sound is hooked up to an old stereo box I got from Radio Shack when I acquired my first Amiga 500 about 13 years ago and it has served me well despite it's age. I also have eight memory cards which contain game saves from every major mission in the game. This allows me to quickly go and try out new ideas (and modify old ones) when they occur to me or suggested by others. I had gotten 100% completion once prior to making this document and did it again with the Double Pack version while getting additional information for the guide. ============================================================================= == I.3. uploads/Litterature/ grand-theft-auto-iii.pdf
