A business strategy is essential to ensure that the business will grow in the right direction and deliver financial results to secure the business, satisfy its stakeholders and serve the owners in the future. Programmes and projects are part of the practical implementation of the strategy. This chapter will evaluate the impact of business strategy on these programmes and projects. It also examines how the organisational business structure and the internal and external environment affect projects and programme management, performance and success. First, have a definite, clear, practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends; wisdom, money, materials, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end. Aristotle Only 64% of projects meet their goals.
