It depicts the social situation and the problems of social integration encountered by immigrants from Mexico and Asia in Los Angeles which is perceived as El Dorado. By this way America is perceived as a dream land since its discovery by Christopher Columbus 1492 as the new world until now, this perception remains the same that is “golden city”. Unfortunately, this dream very often transforms into disillusion for immigrants who try the adventure or attempt journey hoping for the well-being. Otherwise immigrants encounter various difficulties in social and professional integration because of their identity that prevent them from integrating freely into this dream society. It therefore recourses to psychoanalysis theory. Key Words: immigrants, realities, minority, dream, disillusion, Asian Americans, Los Angeles RESUME En entreprenant cette étude à travers l’œuvre romanesque de karen Tei Yamashita Tropic of Orange, notre ambition était de mettre à nu les nombreuses difficultés auxquelles les immigrés asiatiques sont confrontés en Amérique précisément à Los Angeles. Elle décrit la situation sociale et les problèmes d’insertion sociale que rencontrent les immigrés d’origine mexicaine et asiatiques à Los Angeles qui est perçue comme Eldorado. A cet effet l’Amérique vu comme une terre de rêve depuis sa découverte par Christophe Colomb en 1492 comme le nouveau monde jusqu’à maintenant, cette perception reste la même c’est-à-dire the « golden city ». Fort malheureusement ce rêve se transforme bien souvent en désillusion pour les immigrés qui tentent l’aventure ou le voyage en espérant le mieux-être. Autrement dit les immigrés éprouvent d’énormes difficultés d’intégration sociale et professionnelle du fait de leur identité ce qui les empêchent de s’insérer librement dans cette société de rêve. Elle fait donc appel à la psychocritique comme théorie.
